Importance of Form 1 & 2 under NPS Rules 2021

As per Rule 10 of the NPS Rules 2021, the submission of Form 1 and Form 2 is crucial for all NPS employees. Form 1 allows employees to exercise their option regarding pension entitlements, specifically choosing between the old pension scheme (OPS) or the new pension scheme (NPS) in the event of death or retirement due to disability.

This option includes the ability to opt for the CCS Pension & Disability rules or the NPS Exit and Withdrawal Scheme 2015. The chosen option must be recorded in the employee's service book. Form 2 is used to update family details, which is essential for determining beneficiaries, and any changes in family composition must be promptly submitted and recorded by the head of office.

Employees can revise their pension option multiple times before retirement. If an employee is discharged due to invalidation or disability, they are given a chance to provide a fresh option. The last option exercised by a deceased employee will be considered final.

In cases where an employee dies before completing 15 years of service or within three years of the NPS Rules 2021 without exercising an option, their family will be granted OPS as the default option. Similarly, those invalidated before 15 years or three years from the notification without an option will be treated under OPS as default. All other cases will be regulated under the PFRDA Exit & Withdrawal Scheme 2015 as the default option.

If there is no family, the option is deemed invalid, and benefits will be provided to the legal heirs. This information is based on DOP& PW OM No. 57/03/2022-P&PW(B)/8361 dated 26.10.2022.

ஊழியர்கள் ஓய்வு பெறுவதற்கு முன்பு பலமுறை தங்கள் ஓய்வூதிய விருப்பத்தை மாற்றியமைக்கலாம். ஒரு ஊழியர் செல்லாததாக்குதல் அல்லது ஊனம் காரணமாக வெளியேற்றப்பட்டால், புதிய விருப்பத்தை வழங்க அவர்களுக்கு வாய்ப்பு அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. இறந்த ஊழியர் கடைசியாகப் பயன்படுத்திய விருப்பம் இறுதியாகக் கருதப்படும்.

ஒரு ஊழியர் 15 வருட சேவை முடிப்பதற்கு முன் அல்லது NPS விதிகள் 2021 தொடங்கி மூன்று வருடங்களுக்குள் எந்த விருப்பத்தையும் பயன்படுத்தாமல் இறந்தால், அவர்களின் குடும்பத்திற்கு OPS இயல்புநிலை விருப்பமாக வழங்கப்படும். இதேபோல், அறிவிப்பிலிருந்து 15 வருடங்களுக்கு முன் அல்லது மூன்று வருடங்களுக்குள் செல்லாததாக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் விருப்பம் வழங்காமல் இருந்தால் OPS இயல்புநிலை விருப்பமாக கருதப்படுவார்கள்.
