Work Related Illness and Injury Leave (WRIIL) ??

DOPT Notification No. 11020/01/2017-Estt. (L), dated 11.12.2018

Eligibility:-
WRIIL may be granted by the competent authority to a Government servant (permanent or temporary) who suffers from an illness or injury during official duty. 

Pay & Allowances During WRIIL
(i) During Hospitalization:
Full pay and allowances shall be granted to all employees for the entire period of hospitalization.
(ii) Beyond Hospitalization:
The WRIIL entitlement depends on the category of the employee:

(a) Government Servant (except Military Officers):
o Full pay and allowances for six months immediately after hospitalization.
o Half pay for the next twelve months.
o The half-pay period may be commuted to full pay by debited Half Pay Leave from the employee’s leave account.

(b) Officers of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF):
o Full pay and allowances for six months after hospitalization.
o Full pay (without allowances) for the next twenty-four months.
(c) Personnel below Officer Rank in CAPF:
o Full pay and allowances with no time limit.

Leave Accrual During WRIIL
No Earned Leave (EL) or Half Pay Leave (HPL) shall be credited during the period an employee is on WRIIL.
