Posting of GDS against leave/ absentee MTS/Postman staff – clarification

Description for the post made in the You Tube channels on 21 & 22.2024

• The Directorate letter No, 10-07/2001-PE-II dated 2.9.2008 has not been followed in circles in letter and spirit.

• As per this order, GDS substitutes can be engaged only in the departmental post offices having the strength of MTS/ Postman for a period not exceeding 90 days.

• Permission of the regional head is mandatory if the engagement exceeds ninety days.

• If GDS is engaged as paid substitute he should apply for leave without allowance . During that time the work of the regular GDS may be managed either by combination of duties or posting of substitute GDS at the risk of the regular GDS, as per the guidelines of OM No. 17-31/2016 dated 11.2.2023.

• Stop gap arrangements may be terminated immediately once regular MTS. Postman is posted or the competent authority is not accorded approval beyond 90 days.
